Steve Settle, Jr.
Steve is currently employed with the Environmental Protection Agency as an Associate Director. He is the Director of SettleHelps Inc.
Steve enjoys spending time with his wife Khylah and three children (Steve III, Spencer and Sloane). Also he is an avid golfer.
Mary Settle
Mary Slade Settle hails from Potecasi, NC and is a graduate of Elizabeth City State University where she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the first female elected by the student body as Vice President of Student Government Association.
She was employed as a Senior Analyst for the Environmental Protection Agency for 30 years where she developed and found funding for a Youth and the Environment Program designed to expose inner city students to potential careers
in the environment. The program was implemented nationwide. She has been a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for more than 40 years where she serves as President of the Emmanuel Choraleers, Chair of the Cultural Committee of the Women’s Club, a member of the Deaconess Ministry and Tuesday night Bible Study.
She is the loving wife of the late Steve Settle, Sr., her college sweetheart, and the proud mother of 2 daughters, one son and 10 grandchildren. Her greatest desire is to continue to be a humble servant of God.
Shawn Moreland
Shawn Settle Moreland lives in Waldorf, MD. She is the eldest daughter of Mary and Steve Settle, Sr.. She is married and has 3 children and 1 grandchild.
She attended Virginia State University and currently working for the Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) as a Program/Budget Analyst.
AB
AB was employed by the Washington DC Department of Recreation for over 30 years as a Regional Manager for Wards 5 and 6.
After retirement, he worked for the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation as an Education and Enrichment Coordinator, and provided services for the underserved residents of Wards 5, 6, and 7.
AB and Steve Settle Sr were roommates at Elizabeth City State University and remained friends throughout their adult lives and played golf often.
Bettye S. Tompkins
Bettye S. Tompkins, a native of North Carolina, graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She also received a Masters Degree in Reading Education from Bowie State University in Bowie Maryland.
Bettye Tompkins began a long-distinguished career as a classroom teacher in Brunswick County,
Virginia. She concluded her 35-year career in the Charles County Public Schools, Maryland. She served as a classroom teacher, Reading Resource Teacher, an Instructional Specialist, and a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader.
She is active in her church where she continues to use her gift of teaching.
She currently resides in Upper Marlboro, Maryland with her husband. She is the proud mother of two sons, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jeff Slade
Jeff Slade is a Project, Planning and Control Functional Lead with three decades of successful experience as a NASA contractor. Jeff specializes
in schedule management of space flight projects and carries a certification as a project management professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI). A strong leader, Jeff is responsible for policy and procedures guidelines and best practices for a team of over 50 employees.

Jeff is also a sports agent and has managed NBA, WNBA and FIBA basketball players for over 20 years. Jeff is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his wife and three girls.
Tia Carver
My name is Tia Settle Carver and I am the youngest of Steve and Mary's three children. I have been a middle school teacher for 15 years and absolutely love what I do! I am married to AC Carver and have four children AJ, Aaron, Trey, and Mauri who make up my world. I am a proud graduate of Elizabeth City State University where I majored in Elementary Education with a minor in History. I currently serve as the AVID Site Coordinator, Athletic Director, and AVID Elective Teacher for Richmond Public Schools. I am currently a member of Mt Gilead Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia.
